Grand hotels

The Presidential Suite at the Park Hyatt, Tokyo

I am a person for whom staying in a nice hotel is something of an irresistible temptation. I've waxed lyrical in several blog posts in the past about it. Among the things that make a work-related stay in an unfamiliar city a little more memorable is someone opening your door when you pull up in a cab... having your breath taken away when you walk into the lobby... sliding between clean, crisp sheets... plush bathrooms... toiletries that are thoughtful and useable... room service provided with a tablecloth... okay, must not get carried away here.

I don't have that many vices, but I think I'd happily forgo all other birthday, Christmas, anniversary and congratulatory gifts of any kind to stay in each of the hotels listed in this article.

One can dream.
