wedding fever

How did I manage to book out my calender til early March already? What the... ??

Perhaps it has a little something to do with the 3 weddings looming in my calender in the next 5 weeks. I am:

- singing at one wedding
- singing, arranging the vocal item and directing the ceremony at another wedding
- singing, doing a speech, going to dress fittings and makeup trials and other general bridesmaidy duties at the last wedding!

Gotta love it. Or at least grin and bear it! :-)

Shaken and stirred

As our last outing in Adelaide, the fam and I trooped off to Marion to watch Casino Royale. Surprise, surprise - the new 007 movie far exceeded my expectations. I've been a Bond fan from way back. It's my favourite franchise... yes - more than Star Wars, Mission Impossible or any of the comic book adaptations.

In an uncharacteristic move, I'd stayed away from spoilers (not much point since I already knew the plot!) but knew that Daniel Craig's casting as Bond was controversial, to say the least.

My verdict? Brilliant piece of casting. A gamble that worked. I'm also a sucker for French female love interests with a twist (eg Emmanuelle Beart in MI:1) so bonus points for that. The rawness of the stunts was unexpected and a 180 from the slick gadgetry of recent Bond movies, and some did have me cringing in my seat in squirmish horror and delight. And the fact that Bond was complex, multi-faceted and arrogant yet vulnerable was another reason to love it. Not to mention it was just plain fun. Yay for 007!
