Summer Holiday
I'm off to the Gold Coast for a family holiday in just under 7 hours. Resort living, sun, surf, shopping, theme parks. Life is just too hard.

Ciao!

Quiz Crazy
Hehe... the air-conditioning broke down at work today (32 degrees!) so to stop my brain from overheating, I did some random quizzes.

solitary
Your soul is bound to the Solitary Rose: The Alone.
"When I wake up alone, the shades are still
drawn on the cold window pane so they cast
their lines on my bed and lines on my
face."

The Solitary Rose is associated with loneliness,
melancholy, and patience. It is governed by
the goddess Merope and its sign is The Sword,
or Unrequited Love.
As a Solitary Rose, you may be summed up as a
hopeless romantic. You desire love and have so
much love to give, but thing just never seem to
work out the way you want them to. In life,
you can be very optomistic, even when things
are gray and nothing works out to your
expectations.

Air
Your element is Air. You are an artistic person
with a unique sense of style. You are
intelligent; although prone to wonder in
thought which, prevents you from paying full
attention to most things, constantly active and
most likely like to sing. Constantly moving the
air is a force of nature. One moment you can be
a breeze the next a tornado.

fbbfb
Complete sincerity: You believe in being
straightforward with others, and you expect the
same from them. People would consider you a
good listener, and one who is calm and mostly
serious.

Fame
I was in a TV shoot today! It was for the opening credits to a show produced by Anglican Media. Apparently it's going to air on Channel 10 for 13 weeks (June-July). My starring moment was handing someone a cup of coffee, smiling and wiping down a bench. Then, I showed my versatility by walking across a road. Brilliant stuff. I'm preparing my Oscars speech already.

Once upon a time
There once was a blogging phenomenon called "The Friday Five". Here, we take a little trip down memory lane, and answer the first ever Friday Five, from September, 2001.

1. Where were you born (city or state or just country)?
Sydney, NSW, Australia

2. What is your favorite number?
Numero Uno

3. Vanilla or chocolate?
Chocolate. Oh my. Chocolate.

4. What section of a bookstore would I find you in?
Fantasy or children's

5. What kind of mattress do you have on your bed? soft? firm? water?
Firm, with a nice "cush", ie that bouncy feeling when you flop, where it sinks a little then bounces back up gently.

I'm a bad, bad girl
When I'm good, I'm very very good, and go for months without buying DVD, but when I'm bad, I'm naughty! In addition to the 7 DVDs I bought in November, I also purchased the entire box sets for Xena: Warrior Princess Season 1, 2 and 3 yesterday. That's 66 episodes. Granted, it was a communal ISBN purchase, benefitting all members, but still... no more early Christmas presents for myself, I promise!

Legendary Love
Actually, I'm not talking about Casablanca, which I watched in its entirety for the first time today. Granted, it's a classic piece of cinema history, yada yada yada, and I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and acting as much as I wished Bogart would open his mouth more. (Golly, I remember yelling the same thing at the TV when watching Shannon in Australian Idol).

What really got me, though was "Bacall on Bogart", one of the documentaries included on the 2 disc set. It was fascinating watching Humphrey Bogart's wife, Lauren Bacall, talk about his career, and how they first met when he was 45 and she was 19. When she described the night before he passed away, when he said goodbye to Spencer Tracey and Katherine Hepburn from his wheelchair, with Lauren watching, I found tears streaming down my cheeks, and more so as she called her husband a man of integrity, and seeing the pride in her eyes as she told us about their two children and how they've grown up. None of this melodramatic screen stuff, for me, thanks. That is what I call true, simple love.

Tradition
I hate traditions as a general rule. I think I've blogged about this before. Some are just so meaningless and overrated that those who them follow no longer even remember why they started in the first place. However, there's one tradition that I don't mind keeping (ever since high school), and that's when my school friends and I meet once a year, in December, for a Kris Kringle lunch. Sure, a couple of friends have dropped slowly away, but this year, we will managed to get the full 11 of us that are still in contact together (even though Di joined us via internet all the way from Vietnam!). How lovely. Lots of food, lots of catching up, lots of squealing and girly giggling and exchanging gifts. In keeping with my own personal tradition, I was one of the last to arrive (though not the last - wow!) and the first to leave, but still, we wouldn't want to break out of our moulds now, would we?

School of Rock
How funny was this movie? I went in with "above average" expectations. I figured that with rock music and comedy, it couldn't be all bad, but the truth is, I don't think I've laughed out loud so hard or cringed so much in a movie cinema for months! Classic moments:
