Legendary Love
Actually, I'm not talking about Casablanca, which I watched in its entirety for the first time today. Granted, it's a classic piece of cinema history, yada yada yada, and I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and acting as much as I wished Bogart would open his mouth more. (Golly, I remember yelling the same thing at the TV when watching Shannon in Australian Idol).

What really got me, though was "Bacall on Bogart", one of the documentaries included on the 2 disc set. It was fascinating watching Humphrey Bogart's wife, Lauren Bacall, talk about his career, and how they first met when he was 45 and she was 19. When she described the night before he passed away, when he said goodbye to Spencer Tracey and Katherine Hepburn from his wheelchair, with Lauren watching, I found tears streaming down my cheeks, and more so as she called her husband a man of integrity, and seeing the pride in her eyes as she told us about their two children and how they've grown up. None of this melodramatic screen stuff, for me, thanks. That is what I call true, simple love.
